Join Pop Shop America and the Houston Public Libraries for a fun Maker Workshop and Summer Activity! At this craft class we’ll make shadow puppets with cardstock, popsicle sticks, scissors and lots of cool hole punches. You’ll be amazed at how silhouettes can transform into extraordinary shapes with the shadows we create. At the end of the workshop, we’ll have a Puppet Pageant and show off all of our amazing creations.

This is a 2 hour completely free craft workshop hosted by the Houston Public Libraries Summer Reading Program. The Summer Reading Program is the coolest way to find new awesome books during the summer. School’s out which gives us extra time for our favorite activity – reading! These art classes and craft workshops are a fun way to integrate some of our favorite books and try out new experiments and projects that we would never get to try in school!

We’ll bring all the supplies, knowledge, and everything you need to complete this workshop. Each kid will get to make their own shadow puppets and will learn all about cutting techniques making shapes and creating silhouettes. We’ll walk you through every step of making the shadow puppets so you can understand how to make more of at home!

This workshop is suitable for any age of kid. Got kids that are under 10? No problem – we would love to have them there! But please be sure that you are prepared to lend a helping hand to your kid if they need it.
