RSVP with Houston Public Libraries to receive hands on learning and fun with Pop Shop Houston, TXRX, The Iron Yard, Flip Book Photos, 3D Printers, and lots of other cool stuff.
We’ll teach you to smell and taste your way through STEAM!
Pop Shop Houston will be teaching Gastronomy Experiments and DIY Perfumes with Essential Oils! Gastronomy is another word for the science of food. We’ll be teaching our two favorite gastronomy workshops making ice cream with dry ice and tasting the Miracle Fruit Berry. The Miracle Fruit is an African Berry that coats your sour and your bitter taste buds. You won’t believe what lemons, limes, grapefruit, and sea salt and vinegar chips taste like! Ice cream with dry ice is the quickest and easiest way to make ice cream. It puffs with a billowy smoke when you make it and it tastes fizzy and effervescent.
Did you know that there are dozens of toxic chemicals in standard household perfumes, soaps and beauty products? Perfumeries have been able to keep secret formulas of their recipes which contain dozens of carcinogens and harmful chemicals. Students will learn and get to take home their very own perfume made with essential oils! It’s so simple and just a matter of combining a few key essential oils of your choice. Choose between Texas Cedarwood, Rose, Grapefruit, and Vetiver. We’ll show you easy ways to make complex and interesting scent combinations.
