Summertime! Swimming pools, snowcones, burgers and all your favorite moments of summer are in these cute watercolor printables. They are so easy to make into earrings, keychains, pendants and lots of other things. All you need are a couple of household supplies plus printable shrinky dinks. You can find blank printable shrinkies online here and at most craft supply stores. And your other supplies are:
- scissors
- an oven or toaster oven Preheated to 290
- a home printer that can print photo quality
- a hole punch
- Any other supplies you need to make a finished piece like jump rings, earring posts, or keychains.
Super simple. All you need to do is make sure you adjust your printer settings to “best photo quality print”. If you have options to print on glassy or satin paper pick satin. Once your shrinkies are printed cut them out! There is a dotted line and some have little circles where the hole punches should go. Be sure to hole punch them before putting them in the oven.
Anything that you want to add a jump ring to – like a necklace, dangly earring, or keychain will need a hole punch. Stud earrings don’t need a hole punch. After you have your summertime shrinkies cut out, pop those babies in the oven for about 3 minutes. Watch them wiggle and warp and pull them out once they lay flat again.
Once you have your shrinkies out of the oven, it’s time to assemble them into a finished piece. For earrings, use E6000 to attach and earring post to the back. I used surgical stainless steel but you can use base metal or something fancy like 14k gold. Be sure to give it a full 24 hours for the E6000 to dry. For a keychain or necklace use a jump ring by twisting the ring into a spiral. Loop your charm onto the spiral and close it back to a perfect circle. The more perfect the circle the stronger the hold of the jump ring will be.
Viola! Perfect Summer Earrings that you Made Yourself. You’re so stylish, aren’t you?
