Pop Shop Houston – Indie craft festival returns to Silver Street Studios
Pop Shop Houston returns to Silver Street Studios on May 3-4 for two days of Houston’s best indie design, art, and music. Featuring over 90 local vendors, Pop Shop Houston has a blend of fine art and practical goods from all kinds of makers. Outside, there will be a series of musical performances by The New Mercies, Iva Dawn Children of Pop, and Mikey and the Drags. Inside is a wonderland of design goods, craft workshops, kids activities, vintage video games, and so much more.
The most recent Pop Shop Houston last November attracted over 5,000 attendees. Now, heading into the fourth installment of the festival, organizer Brittany Bly expects it to keep growing. “DIY is always in style,” she said. “There are so many talented artists making beautiful things. The people who come to Pop Shop want a special connection with the things they own.”
In between the big festivals every six months, Pop Shop Houston also hosts monthly “Mini Pops” at Westheimer and Dunlavy in Montrose. “The Mini Pops keep it current,” Bly said. “That’s our kitchen. We get to test out new ideas and meet new people every month.”
Pop Shop Houston is free, family-friendly, and open to the public. VIP passes are available for $20, and include small bites, a lounge, and surprises throughout the weekend.
