I fell in love with Home Made Luxe and I think you will too.Β Don’t forget to read until the end of the blog to find a coupon code just for Pop Shop blog readers. There’s a secret spoiler for May 2017’s Home Made Luxe Subscription Box too!
Opening up a subscription box is such a fun surprise! I received my box in March 2017 and it was a perfect box for spring. Home Made Luxe boxes are packed with such care and stuffed to the brim!
When I opened my box, right at the top was a description of the DIY with detailed picture instructions. And a little freebie too! The freebie is a Spring Cleaning Printed Checklist and a mini sample of Eucalyptus Spearmint Hydrogen Peroxide Cleaner by Pyoure.
The DIY is a Floral Ampersand! When finished, it’s a piece of home decor that’s tabletop or mantle sized and has a fun flirty spring vibe. All the supplies are packed up just for you and include a 16 inch tall ampersand, structural foam for modeling shapes, white acrylic paint, a box cutter, bright pink faux flowers, glue sticks, and a paint brush.
To complete this project all you need to own is a glue gun! Everything else is included in the box.
The instructions included in the box are easy to follow. But each box has a blog post with more detailed instructions.
For this box, I first removed the front of the ampersand with the box cutter. I had to be careful to cut along the edges. Next I glued the 2 ampersand pieces together with the glue gun.
Then I painted the ampersand. This is where I spend the most time. It needed several coats and time to dry in between each. This is a fabulous task to do while you are relaxing watching movies, doing laundry, that sort of thing. But after I was done I realized that the paint doesn’t actually have to be perfect! The flowers are such focal point that it’s hard to notice if the back of the ampersand is perfectly evenly layered in white.
Next I added the craft foam inside of the ampersand to help hold it’s shape and to have a great surface to add the flowers.
For some reason, the absolutely perfect amount of flowers were in the box! It was amazing. You do have to be careful about spacing and lining them up nicely but this seemed to happen naturally. The leaves of the flowers are perfect for the rounded edges to prevent the foam from showing.
One of the things I liked about the Home Made Luxe Box is that it actually took a bit of time to put together. It makes sense that this is a monthly box. It’s not the type of box you would blow through in 20 minutes and then feel bored. It takes a bit to read and understand the directions, to look at the blog to see more of the finished product. It takes a minute to create the DIY because there are a few steps along the way.
No wonder this subscription box is only a year of existing has hundred of subscribers each month. Home Made Luxe also has party kits that are perfect for bachelorette parties or housewarmings in which you can get multiple identical kits to share with your friends.
