Pop Shop Houston Returns Black Friday Weekend with a Festival that is Twice as Big as Previous Events
Join Pop Shop Houston Festival November 27th through 29th at the largest pop up event of the year! Pop Shop Houston is a festival of art, design, and handmade. On Black Friday Weekend, It’s a place to go to ditch the lines, ditch the malls, and have fun instead. Rather than shopping at big box stores, you can have fun while shopping from over 90 artists and small businesses in the same place.
You can even learn to create your own handmade goods. Take a DIY class, like terrarium building or candle creation, while you are there. Both Pop Shop Houston and TX/RX Labs Hackerspace will be at the event with free and paid make and takes to help you learn how to unleash your inner maker. There will be lots of other fun stuff to do like watch short films all weekend long, see live bands curated by Reprogram Multimedia (they created the MFAH Mixed Media Series), hear dj’s like Ceeplus & FREDster, grab a cocktail or lunch from a food truck, or peruse epic amounts of visual art on display.
All of this is at a free event – free entrance all 3 days with VIP Upgrades for $24.
From June 2015 to November 2015 the festival is doubling in size. There we’re over 8,000 in attendance at the June event. So this November, they’re debuting twice as much Pop with art installations and more fun things to do through the galleries of Silver Street Studios.
When asked what to expect this holiday, founder Brittany Bly said, “Twice as much fun as last November. There will be so much visual art, live painting, bands, and fun things to do. Pop Shop isn’t just a festival of handmade. It’s a festival that includes many facets of visual art- like fashion, film, and food. It’s the best place to see the diversity of Houston Art.”

Most participants don’t have studios at Silver Street! We have artists from all over the state and country.
My family and I moved to Houston about 2 years ago, and we’re always looking for different things to do. I hadn’t heard of this yet. Thanks for sharing.
