It’s April so you know that means. We are reaching berry season! I love this part of the year when fresh berries are just so perfectly ripe. This Strawberry Mint Mojito is so perfect when berries are gorgeous and juicy.
It’s fun, fresh, and fruity! This is the type of cocktail you could make super mild with just a touch of rum or super boozy too! We love mojitos which is why we’ve also created this Mojito Key Lime Pie Recipe and this Whirled Watermelon Mojito Recipe.
I chose Strawberry for this cocktail but I would love to see what blackberries or dewberries would be like. I bet a Dewberry Mint Mojito would be just as delicious.. I don’t know if you could even call it a mojito if you replaced the mint with basil or sage but I think that would be just fabulous too. So let’s get to making this Strawberry Mint Mojito.
First of all, it’s super important to use very ripe strawberries. The quality of the strawberries will make all the difference! You could even use overripe strawberries in this recipe. The quality of your limes is also important. Be sure that they are super juicy.
Any recipe that tells you to make a mojito with white rum should be thrown away! Dark rum has so much flavor and is just a bit spicy. It makes for a complex and flavorful cocktail. If you are looking for something mild, we forgive you for replacing the dark rum with white rum.
Start by muddling the strawberries, lime, sugar, and mint at the bottom of your glass. Use a pestle from a mortar and pestle set or if you don’t have one, you could use a metal swizzle stick. Be sure to not allow your mint to become pulverized. It’s important for it to just be partially torn. Then add your rum and give it a quick little swirl. Now that all your main ingredients are blended, just add ice to the top of the glass and fill with club soda.
Just to be cute, we added a strawberry and lime slice to the glass! Adding a sprig of mint is always gorgeous. If you add mint, slap it on your hand before you add it to the glass to help release the oils & flavor.
Now all you need to do is drink, sip, and enjoy! We love this Strawberry Mint Mojito cocktail outdoors and we love this cocktail for a gals party too! Cocktails with fresh fruit are just totally our thing! Tell us how you enjoy it in the comments.
