Skip the lines, bring the kids, and celebrate Black Friday with Pop Shop Houston
On November 29-30, Pop Shop Houston comes to Silver Street Studios for a special “Black Friday edition” of the indie craft, art, and music festival. The two-day event features over 90 Houston-based vendors, and lots of family-friendly activities, including a vintage video game arcade, cool science lessons from Bright Minds, and craft tables for kids and adults. Black Friday has never been this much fun.
This is the third Pop Shop Houston festival, and the first at Silver Street Studios. The new facility features 21,000 square feet of space. That’s an upgrade from last year, where they saw 4,000 visitors come to the 10,000 square foot event. “The response so far has been overwhelming,” organizer Brittany Bly said. “Houston has a diverse and talented group of makers, and people love buying handmade, local goods. So we have continued to grow, grow, grow!”
In between the big festivals, Pop Shop Houston also hosts “Mini Pops” every month at the historic Montrose intersection of Westheimer and Dunlavy. These Sunday afternoon pop up markets appear in the parking lot between Leopard Lounge and Pavement Clothing. And when there’s a Mini Pop, the surrounding retailers report 3x-normal sales.
“Everything we do, we try to make it as fun and interesting as possible.” Bly said. “From the big festivals to the Mini Pops, we just want everyone to have a good time.”
