Are you in love with clay like I am? It’s such a versatile craft supply and you can make so many different types of stylish crafts with it! You can make clay dishes like this Cactus Ring Holder. Or you can make Clay Earrings like these here.
Clay also has a professional look – it doesn’t have the homemade quality that you get with other types of crafts. So the crafts you make can look gorgeous and finished if made well.
One of my favorite clay projects are Candle Holders. You can marble the clay, shape the clay, use the clay for tea light candles or tall taper candles. So here are 15 gorgeous DIY Clay Candle Holder Tutorials to get you inspired!
Clay Wall Sconce

This wall sconce is the perfect backdrop for your candle! This tutorial uses air dry clay. But air dry clay and polymer clay can often be substituted for each other. Just make sure you follow the instructions on baking for polymer clay!
Polymer clay has directions on the package, but I always use Sculpey Brand and follow the instructions that you can find here. Basically, I just bake at a slighly lower temperature than the package instructions to ensure that it doesn’t burn.
Daisy Candle Holders

To make these adorable daisy candle holders, you could use colored clay. Or you could paint the clay once it’s dry and ready! You could use natural colors like pale yellow and white or neons or even holiday themed colors to make them super fun.
DIY Clay Mushroom Candle Holders

These clay mushrooms are fun for nature lovers and would be perfect for fall! Here they are shown in an array of natural browns, cream, and taupe, but you could also make these in a fun and lively red and white!
Faceted Gemstone Tea Light Holder

If you are looking for something a little more refined and upscale, these faceted gemstone tea light holders are perfect! You could make these in white, gray to mimic concrete or neutral colors to help fit the modern theme. It only takes one color of clay and you could use an array of faceted shapes
Flower Pressed Clay Candle Holder Tutorial

How gorgeous is this flower pressing in the clay candle holder? You could take a nature walk to find a plant that’s meaningful. You could use lots of different small flowers or plants to create this piece. Just make sure it’s the size you are looking for and that it has a distinct shape.
Hamsa Clay Tea Light Holder Tutorial

A hamsa is a magical symbol used to ward of evil and create projection. This clay candle holder is simple to make and fun to decorate because it has a series of lines and patterns, that you can create with clay tools. Don’t have clay tools? Try using a sharp pencil, a butter knife, or an X-Acto knife.
DIY Clay Cat Candle Holders

These candle holders are simple in shape, but so fun and whimsical in theme! All you need is a touch of paint to make the whiskers, eyes, and nose.
DIY Clay Cactus Candle Holders

If you know me, you know my obsession with all things cactus and succulents. These candle holders are a great way to show your love for all things planty. The array of greens are sure to brighten up any space!
DIY Winter Snowflake Tea Light Tray

If you are decorating for winter, this is the perfect craft tutorial. All you need is white clay. One of the snowflakes shown here is also coated in silver glitter, which is cute. But if you are glitter averse, you could create a similar look by accenting the candle holder with a silver paint pen or silver paint.
Simple Clay Saucer Candle Holder

These saucer shaped candle holders may be simple, but that’s a great way to draw attention to the candle instead of the candle holder! This tutorial would be perfect for decorated candles.
DIY Clay Starscape Candle Holder

This tutorial uses and X-Acto knife to make delicate little stars across the simple pyramid shape. But you don’t have to cut stars or even use an X-Acto knife! You could use a straw to make circles or cut squares, or other simple shapes. Just be sure that whatever you choose, you work in easy shapes.
DIY Traditional Style Candle Holder

If you like the candle holders you see in Charles Dickens or Jane Austen period dramas, these diy clay candle holders are perfect for you! They are made in a modern, fresh color, but the shape and style is traditional!
DIY Wavy Candelabra Candle Holder

You can’t get any more beginner friendly than this tutorial! All you need is a wavy line in a cool shape. Pro Tip: Clay is unforgiving – the way it looks wet is exactly how it will look dry. Take your time and use clay tools to make the surface even, perfect, and pristine before you bake it for polymer clay or let it dry for air dry clay. If you find imperfections after it’s dry, use sand paper to buff them away.
DIY Clay Candle Holder Set

If you want to make a matching set of candle holders, this tutorial is perfect! The stripes and patterns can be optional – you could just focus on the shapes if that’s more your style.
