Start by Making Strawberry Syrup

First, start by making your strawberry syrup. You can make this ahead of time and store it in the fridge. Or you can use pre-made strawberry syrup – but homemade will be so much more delicious!

To make it, get the full recipe at the bottom of the blog. Wash and slice your strawberries into thin slices. Place them in a small stock pot with water and sugar.

Bring to a gentle boil or medium high heat and then immediately reduce the temperature to allow the strawberries to simmer. Continue to cook for 15 minutes and then remove from heat. While the mixture is still warm, but not hot, pour it through a strainer or sieve to remove the strawberry pulp. Viola! Discard the strawberry pulp and just keep the gorgeous and bright pink strawberry syrup. You can store this strawberry syrup on the fridge for around 2-3 weeks or in the freezer for longer.

Make the Lemonade

Next, you will need to make the lemonade, a similar process to making strawberry syrup. You could use pre-made lemonade in addition to pre-made strawberry syrup which is a really nice way to cut back on all the work and still get the gorgeous color changing effect! But of course, making it from scratch will elevate this drink. And all these individual components are easy to make. So why not try?

To make lemonade, start by making a simple syrup. The goal of making simple syrup is to dissolve the sugar completely. Any simple syrup recipe will tell you that the sugar takes just few minutes to melt. But there’s nothing worse than a syrup that crystalizes once it’s cool. So it’s best to heat your syrup for a few minutes longer than what other recipes say to ensure this doesn’t happen.

Once your sugar is completely dissolved add lemon juice and then cold water. Here’s a detailed lemonade recipe that includes lavender if you want to know more.

You can get butterfly pea flower tea any place you get tea (like here) Brew butterfly pea flower tea just like any tea but brew it for this recipe really strong so you can get a deep color.
